👻 Haunting Whispers at Poor House Farm Park

Hey, Spooky Cats—Spooky Cat Lady here, returning to Poor House Farm Park for another haunting exploration. Only this time, I’ll share my experience in writing, guided by the recording captured on Friday the 13th.

🌳 A Silent Park with a Grim Past

Although it looks peaceful today, Poor House Farm Park wasn’t always the tranquil haven it appears to be. In the 1800s, this ground housed the Berkeley County Alms House, where the destitute came seeking refuge. Instead, they found overcrowding, disease, and despair—a grim sojourn that left many nameless. Mass graves scattered across the property hold the remains of those who passed away anonymously. The weight of their suffering seems to linger in the shadows.

As dusk descends, the atmosphere grows unnerving: visitors and investigators alike have reported shadowy figures moving among the trees, whispering voices floating through the air, and the distinct apparition of a young girl near the old ruins—possibly one who died under the harsh conditions. Despite the park’s serene appearance, many believe her restless spirit continues to roam, seeking acknowledgment or solace in the present day.

🧭 Barebones Exploration, Big Energy

Armed with only a smartphone running GhostTube and Spirit Talker, I ventured into the park on a spontaneous stop—no full investigation gear, just a casual walkthrough. The main house is heavily boarded up and fenced off, with barrels and abandoned containers stacked inside—a stark reminder that the structure is off-limits for good reason.

Still, nearby, the barn—renovated into an event space—is more accessible. Though someone appeared to be prepping an event, the main spirit activity is rumored near the boarded-up old home. Though the doors could be opened (I tested one out of curiosity), I respected the rules—without permission, entering was out of the question.

🎙️ Ghost Chat on the Edge of Morning

Seeking quiet, I settled down for a brief session of spirit communication via mobile apps. GhostTube intermittently peppered responses like “short”, “morning”, and even “Infuriated”, possibly reacting to my presence. I attempted to speak to the supposed resident child spirit:

“Are you a little girl? You’re welcome to come out and play…”

No tangible reply. But the breeze, distant voices, and rustling leaves fed the energy of possibility.

At one point, I thought I heard footsteps from nearby – but upon listening, the sound was too far away. Just a fleeting moment of unease, perhaps nature—or perhaps not.

📸 Hunting for Evidence in the Frames

I snapped a few photos around the house, hoping for misty shapes or spectral faces. Though none revealed anything dramatic, I remained open to reviewing the footage later. After all, sometimes the subtle things show up afterward.

👋 Farewell Until Next Time

By midday, the sight of the sun warming the cleared clearing convinced me that this quick stop had to end. But before signing off, I slipped in a few more parting words:

“I will be back... I promise—probably early in the morning.”

So, dear Spooky Cats, this was only a brief peek. But mark your calendars—especially if you’re the type to chase paranormal energy at dawn. I’ll return with more equipment, and perhaps we’ll get more than just whispered replies next time.

Until then—stay spooky. 🐾

🕯️ Why Visit Poor House Farm Park?

  • History meets hauntings: A former alms house turned mass gravesite sets the stage for ghostly encounters unmatched in subtlety.

  • Accessible terrain: Though you can’t enter the house, the grounds—and especially the barn area and old ruins—are open (within dawn to dusk).

  • Potential energy hotspots: Ruined corners of the property, tree lines by the unmarked graves, and the perimeter of the house are all areas where visitors have sensed or recorded anomalies.

🎥 Want to Explore Yourself?

  • Visiting hours are dawn to dusk—the park is closed at night.

  • Bring essentials like bug spray, a flashlight, and any gear you'd like to test (EMF meters, recorders, IR cameras).

  • Research grave site info—some resources online map out approximate locations and list former residents.

  • Be respectful of the grounds—stay on paths, don’t trespass into fenced or boarded areas, and leave no trace.

Thank you for reading, Spooky Cats! I’ll be back with more gear, more cameras, and hopefully, more ghostly contact. Let me know if you spot anything strange in the video—see you in the next paranormal post!
