Crazy Cat Lady Coloring Book Review: The Most Relatable Coloring Book I've Ever Found

Every once in a while, you stumble across a coloring book that feels like it was made specifically for you.

For me, that book is Crazy Cat Lady.

Considering my nickname is literally The Spooky Cat Lady, there wasn't much chance I was leaving this one sitting on the shelf.

If you love cats, know someone who proudly embraces the "crazy cat lady" title, or simply enjoy cute and humorous coloring books, here's a look inside this feline-filled collection.

Where I Found It

I actually picked up this coloring book at a quirky little shop called The Stupid Factory in Myrtle Beach.

I'd never seen it before, and I'm not sure how widely it's available, although there's a good chance you can find it online if you go looking.

The moment I spotted the cover, I knew it had to come home with me.

First Impressions

The book is exactly what the title promises.

It's funny.

It's lighthearted.

And it's completely dedicated to the wonderful chaos of life with cats.

Unlike many adult coloring books that focus on intricate patterns, this one tells a series of humorous little stories through its illustrations.

That makes flipping through it just as entertaining as coloring it.

Better Paper Than I Expected

One pleasant surprise was the paper quality.

The pages are noticeably thicker than what you'll usually find in most Amazon KDP coloring books.

They're still not designed for soaking with watercolor, but they feel sturdier than standard print-on-demand paper.

Colored pencils, gel pens, and light marker use should work well.

A Story Every Cat Lover Understands

Rather than presenting random cat pictures, this coloring book follows a woman whose love of cats steadily grows throughout the book.

It starts innocently enough.

Her husband gives her a cat as a gift.

The gift is an immediate success.

From there...

Things escalate.

More Cats...

And More Cats...

As the pages progress, the number of cats keeps growing.

One cat becomes several.

Several become many.

Eventually, it reaches the point where nearly every illustration is overflowing with cats.

Honestly?

I completely understand.

Cats have a funny way of multiplying in your heart.

The Husband's Reaction

One of the funniest running jokes throughout the book involves the husband.

While the cat lady becomes happier and happier surrounded by her growing feline family...

Her husband becomes progressively less enthusiastic.

Eventually, it looks like he's had enough.

Fortunately, my own husband has been successfully converted into a cat person.

Our two cats have definitely won him over.

Now...

If I suddenly brought home six more...

That might be a different conversation.

The Cat Roller Coaster

One illustration instantly became one of my favorites.

It's a roller coaster.

Filled with cats.

I don't know who designed that page, but I fully support the idea of a cat-themed amusement park.

I'd absolutely ride it.

Walking a Cat...

Anyone who's ever tried to walk a cat on a leash will immediately appreciate one particular page.

If you've never attempted it before, here's a quick summary of how it usually goes:

You think you're taking the cat for a walk.

The cat thinks you're standing outside while it refuses to move.

The Cone of Shame

Another page features every cat owner's least favorite invention:

The dreaded cone.

Poor kitty.

Although, in my experience, cones don't stay on very long.

My cats have always treated them like personal escape room challenges.

That's already shaping up to be a pretty good day.

One thing I wasn't expecting was the inclusion of puzzle pages.

Personally, these weren't my favorite part of the book.

They're perfectly fine if you enjoy little brain teasers, but I would've preferred a few more cat illustrations instead.

Still, they add a little variety.

Short but Sweet

This isn't a massive coloring book.

It's actually fairly short compared to many of the others I've reviewed.

But honestly, that's okay.

Every page feels cheerful and fun, and sometimes quality matters more than quantity.

The Happiest Ending

By the end of the book...

The husband may not be thrilled.

The house may now contain approximately one million cats.

But the cat lady has never looked happier.

As someone who proudly answers to "Spooky Cat Lady," I can certainly appreciate that ending.

Final Verdict

The Crazy Cat Lady Coloring Book won't appeal to everyone.

But if you're the kind of person who:

• Stops to pet every cat you meet
• Has more pictures of your cats than people on your phone
• Buys cat-themed decorations without hesitation
• Laughs at cat memes a little too hard

...this book was probably made for you.

Things to Keep in Mind

• It's a fairly short coloring book.

Even so, I couldn't help smiling while flipping through it.

Sometimes a coloring book doesn't need to be complicated.

Sometimes it just needs lots and lots of cats.

Thankfully, my husband has become just as fond of our cats as I am.

Although...
