I watched the movie "Mandrake" on the recommendation of another YouTuber, and I have to say, it was a good one. The film revolves around Cathy Madden, a probation officer who must rehabilitate a notorious killer named 'Bloody' Mary Laidlaw. Mary finished serving a two-decade sentence and it is now Cathy's job to help her reintegrate back into society.

 I was intrigued by the premise of the movie and was eager to see how the story would unfold. I have a thing for mandrake roots and folklore based stories. Mandrake sounded right up my alley. While I enjoyed the film, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have more "witchy" vibes, like movies such as "The Witch" and "Hereditary". I was drawn to this movie because of the mandrake root and was hoping for a little more of that dark, supernatural element. It's there, I wanted more.

I still thought the movie was worth watching. The performances by the actors were solid and the cinematography was impressive. The movie had a good pace and kept me engaged throughout. However, I did feel that the plot could have been a little darker and had more of a twist to it. The plot was very straight forward. The ending was predictable. I was hoping for a bigger more unique payoff.

Overall, I would say that "Mandrake" is a good movie, but not a great one. If you're looking for a movie with some witchyness, then this might be worth checking out. Just don't expect it to be a thriller with a lot of twists and turns.
