My Review 3 out 5 black cats

I thought this book was not bad, about average. It gave me x-men vibes as I was reading it. The plot was very simple, not a lot of complexity to it and there were a lot of elements not tied up in this first book so I am assuming they get tied up in later books.

The writing was easy to read and follow. It's a great book book for young adults who have not read a lot of books before, but for an adult or an avid reader the plot may be too simple.

As I said, it reminded me of x-men, people developing super powers. If you are really into that then you may love this, but so far in this first book I don't see anything that makes it unique compared to other books on this subject.

I don't know how I feel about the main character in this first book. For a lot of the book she is just going along with whatever is happening until the end. She also does some things that are very self serving that make her a little unlikable. She did have a rough childhood, her mom sometimes punished he by putting her in a box, so maybe that is why she is this way in the first book. She also knows a lot about the outside world for never leaving her house. I guess you could have learned those things from TV and books.

There are other books in the series, but I'm not sure I am interested in reading them. There was nothing about this first book that made me think something interesting would be coming up, but I would give other books by this author a try. I'm not saying don't read this, I'm saying you might not like it as much if you are a seasoned reader. New readers may like it a lot.
