Ascend (Trylle #3)

This is the third book in the switched trilogy by Amanda Hocking. I've read the the first two and liked them enough to continue to the end. Here is a quick description of the book borrowed from amazon:

The final chapter in the Trylle Trilogy...
With a war looming on the horizon, Wendy’s fate seems sealed. But everything she sacrificed might be in vain if she can’t save the ones she loves.
Her whole life has been leading up to this, and it’s all coming to an end.
This is a young adult paranormal romance with mild language and mild sexual situations recommended for ages thirteen and up.

If you enjoyed twilight then you will most likely enjoy the switched trilogy. In the third book Wendy is about to become queen of the Trylle and as soon as she becomes queen, the cruel immortal king of the Vittra will attack. Wendy wants to save everyone she cares about and repeatedly tries to sacrifice herself in their place. While the pressures of ruling a kingdom haunt her, she is also dealing with love. Finn her first love from the first and second book, and a new love, Loki, we meet in the second.

He seems more like an over baring flirt to avoid than the main love interest. The reason Wendy doesn't pick Finn is a good one and I agree with it, but Loki's character just wasn't enough of a hero to replace Finn.

Despite this small flaw, I still enjoyed all three books. They are an easy, light read full of entertainment. The characters are easy to like and the story as a whole, although not ground breaking in any way, is enj
